Origins: Guerrero, Mexico
Bloom: Intermediate compound inflorescence producing several short red and yellow bracts and purple tubular flowers. Similar to T. juncea but bracts are larger and peduncle is shorter
Light: Strong indirect or filtered light
Water: Spray or dunk twice a week, allow to dry within 6-8 hours. Soak monthly to rehydrate up to 2 hours as necessary. Be sure to thoroughly dry base after soaking to avoid rotting
Tillandsia ortgiesiana is a grassy-type species similar to juncea, juncifolia, and hammeri but the bracts of ortgiesiana are much larger than its close relatives. Leaves are semi stiff and generally shorter than most of the other species mentioned. Forms beautiful clumps and likes good air flow
