Origins: Paul Isley hybrid
Bloom: Foliage and very short inflorescence turn cherry red as purple tubular flowers burst from the bright red bract
Light: Best in strong indirect or filtered light
Water: Spray or dunk twice a week, allow to dry within 6-8 hours. Soak monthly to rehydrate up to 4 hours as necessary. Due to the bulbous base of the plant, make sure it dries out quickly after watering to avoid water getting trapped in the leaves, causing rot
This is one of those hybrids that definitely got the best of both parents. This is a popular hybrid that can take several different shapes depending on the grower; the ones we have available take on more of the bulbosa shape and stay smaller like an ionantha. During bloom, like an ionantha, all the foliage turns red as it produces its purple flowers
The plants currently available are not blushing as pictured, they are completely green at the moment
