This large monocarpic species grows in cloud forests in various regions of Central America. Prefers cool night time temperatures and frequent moisture. Produces a nice red color year round, initially only on the under sides of the leaves but as it matures, in the right conditions, it will hold a brilliant red blush. I recommend growing it potted in a loose, quick draining media
