Origins: Mexico, Guatemala
Bloom: Small, short pink inflorescence with purple tubular flowers. Most of the plant goes from green to a brilliant pink during bloom, similar to the way brachycaulos and ionantha change colors during bloom
Light: Shade to indirect light
Ideal for: Outdoors
Water: Spray or dunk once a week, allow to dry within 6-8 hours. Soak monthly to rehydrate up to 4 hours as necessary
Velutina sounds a little bit like velvet, which is exactly how the leaves feel on this plant. Very soft green leaves throughout the year that turn bright pink during bloom. In more humid climates, this plant can grow quite large, bigger than a human head!
