Origins: Ecuador

Bloom: Really unique inflorescence with distichous floral bracts that form a zipper-like pattern.  Produces fragrant what flowers that bloom at night (bracts are much tighter and smaller than dodsonii)

Light: Strong indirect and/or filtered light

Ideal for: Outdoors

Water: Spray twice a week, allow to dry within 6-8 hours.  Soak monthly to rehydrate up to 4 hours as necessary (may not be an option if you pot it, simply try and spray more frequently during warm and dry months.  Will require daily waterings during the summer)

 

Formerly in the genus Tillandsia, this unique plant was reclassified several years ago along with the other night bloomers.  This species likes cool, moderate temperatures, good air flow, and frequent moisture.  Produces white fragrant flowers that only bloom at night from a pretty unique bloom structure Does best potted or mounted
